Gaiety Girl and Gaiety Girl Inclined are based on the poster lettering of English artist Dudley Hardy. Hardy was one of the best of the English poster designers of the 1890s. Although he is not known to have designed a formal typeface as such, he developed a distinctive lettering style that he used, with variations, on most of his posters. This font family is inspired by that style, drawing from several of his posters. It is named after his well-known 1894 poster for the musical comedy A GAIETY GIRL. The font Gaiety Girl Inclined is inclined to the left, like the poster. As for the Gaiety Girl herself, we suspect her inclination was to have a good time. Great for light-hearted flyers.
